Chair Update
Dear Members/ Colleagues,
As we transition back into ‘business as usual’ and begin GP recovery work in our practices , as a Federation will be reaching out to our members to see how best we can support you in your recovery plans.
I would also like to take this opportunity to highlight our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is coming up in July, a save date will be circulated soon. Our AGM give us the opportunity to update and inform our members on the Federations progress, the achievements we have made and the support to practices and patients in what has been our most difficult year as well as us all having to navigate the many changes across the current landscape, we will also be announcing our business plans for the next 12 months.
We like to thank you as members for your continued support and our Federation team for their continued hard work .
Stay safe and well!
Anuj

Patients
Your PPG Network – Communicate to avoid abuse!
Barnet practices, like the rest of the country, have PPGs ranging from successful, through lip-service, to virtual, to none. Making them work needs commitment from all sides with benefits that are, of course, proportional. Patient volunteers may not be a high priority but how do you value, for example, marshals for Covid vaccinations or annually for flu-jab programmes?
It is the practice manager that makes the commitment in most surgeries, often both calling and chairing PPG meeting that needs GP backup but the non-appearance of a partner at meetings dampens the enthusiasm of the patients to make their commitment. Ideally, patients should lead the meetings, be involved by sharing concerns, not simply be recipients of whatever the practice wants to tell them. The best PPGs have another P – for Partnership; talk to BPPN for ideas on harnessing this resource.
